July's Party Resolution.

I woke up at around 11, sleeping on the floor of my friends basement. I remembered the whole evening, right up to walking down the backyard path to the house to go lay down, but I don't recall actually going to sleep, though it must have happened. This retrospective seems selective. My nail is bruised on my hand and I have a cut on my left foot, but I don't remember hurting either of them. Someone stole my towel. When I came home, I went ahead and took a little nap until 1, then showered and ate.

And then coffee, of course.

I closed the party down with The J-Man, and as the sun came up, I took a last splash into the pool.
"This is pretty nice." I thought. "There are moments in life that come without pain." But I don't remember our conversation.

When I woke up, I was alone in my swim trunks, bought gray with white flowers just for this kind of occasion. I was dry and shirtless. Finding my bag after a quick search - but not my towel, I put on a shirt that smelt like campfire smoke and drove home, like a beach bum, without shoes.

Totally unfroody. Never forget where your towel is.

I'd like to say that I can't be blamed, but I know deep in my geek heart that there's no excuse. There was a towel thief, though; I'm not the only one missing portable dryness.
