It occured to me that there were things I intended to pick up, but hadn't got around to. The last time I was at CostCo., for example, I was looking for a simple coffee grinder. The closest this warehouse-store thing had was a variety of food processors. It should have occured to me to buy a coffee maker as well, but one thing at a time I guess.

Well, there is a Starbucks not all that far from work. Why not go there and check to see what kind of coffee appliances they have for sale? I did not price their grinders, but a cursory glance indicates that the cheapest coffee maker they sell goes for about 80 bucks. While good coffee is a very nice thing indeed, an expensive drip coffeemaker it not much different then a cheap one. Its fundimental purpose is to run hot water through coffee grounds and store the results. Everything else is bells and whistles that don't really have much to do with the coffee process at all.

I think Brent has one that keeps coffee in a thermos-like jug, keeping it hot for a surprisingly long time, but I don't consider that a make-or-break deal.

Sometimes I read biographies and find them terribly interesting. The first time I got this weird interest in someones life, it was Sam Walton. Today, I've got this weird interest in Robert McNamera. It stems from a biography I watched on his life, narrated by him and then forgetting his name. On a Salon article today, I happened to catch his name and thought, "That's it!" so now I've got this curiosity.
