I don't! I look like a ghoul wrapped in black cloth with a crummy beige hat. My skin turns ashen and pale, my eyes sink and their color typically turns to gray. My skin dries out, and it's impossible to get a good shave, and because of my work schedule, I only come out at night.
The sun is much to bright,
we only come out at night.
So I mostly don't bother. I'm not made for winter, so I just try to survive it. And it totally bothers me, so I try a few different things, with limited success. If I don't put the effort into it, though, yeah, I look pretty rough.
The question looks like it was put by Sorel, which appears to make boots. That's pretty valid, but I actually switch my beat-up but fairly nice shoes for a pair of dumpy but very effective tan hiking boots, so I didn't really worry about footware, but maybe a nice looking pair of boots would be a good investment. Incidentally, I had been looking for better winter wear, because the coat I've got is almost a decade old and looks pretty worn. In fact, that's more or less a theme.
Being the nerd that I am, and I believe I've referenced this group in the past, I was impressed by Buzz Rickson's clothing but had never really checked the prices. I remembered seeing some pretty nice cold weather gear that I imagined was very effective given the circumstances, so checked back. It's true, some of the clothing met my rather exact specifications for what I'll wear.

I was specifically liking the low quarter service shoes, USAAF A-4 flight cap, pre-WWII Navy pea coat, and USAAF A-2 winter flight gloves.
What's holding me back? Price, mostly. The gloves are 125 for a pair of, well, gloves. The hat is 60. The pea coat is a whopping 725, and the shoes are almost 500 dollars. Those are very intimidating prices for someone planning on shopping at Good Will not to find vintage stuff, but because I rightly intend to try to save money by shoring up a wardrobe I am literally wearing to threads.
