Wheeeelp, I'm utterly fried, everyone. I mean, I'm ok, but this weekend has been trying and Katie's away at work, and so I'm sitting around in last night's clothing waiting for my coffee to finish brewing.

There was kind of a big party, which Katie and I went to. That can be a little emotionally trying at the best of times 'cause, well, I'm not anti-social per say, but gatherings tap me out. If you look up introvert in the dictionary, there's a picture there that's just a frame around smaller words saying, "Thanatos's picture would be here, but photo shoots stress him out." The thing to know is that the get together was in Jacksonville, IL which combines all my great loves - driving somewhere I'm unfamiliar, driving somewhere for a long time, going to a place in the middle of nowhere at night, and making Katie miserable.

In the middle of the road on the way, there was a huge deer carcass so we hit it. Imagine that in the weary tone of voice used by people saying stuff like, "Of course the washer's gone out. We just paid the car off, after all." and "It sure is good that my contractors haven't set up my direct deposit yet, because I kind of enjoy paying twelve bucks a month for a banking service that was free last year." Nothing huge damaged. Probably. But there's a plastic flap that protects the car parts next to the wheels from grabbing dirt on the road that's been broken. When left unattended, it creates a delightful grinding sound as it skids along the road. It took us almost three hours to get there because we took the road that actually drove us directly into Jacksonville. It took us less then two hours to come back because we detoured through Springfield and then went half again the speed limit.

....

Okay so, it turns out our washer wasn't broken, a bottle had just been leaking water nearby. There's nothing wrong with it at all. That diagnosis cost $75, and when I heard it I didn't have the energy to really be irate about having spent the money and all the extra time already. I was just glad that we're not totally up shit creek, washer-wise. I've got no strength for that nonsense right now.
