I know most of my updates have been (no subject), but there's pretty much all just updates.
I've been reading a shitload. I kind of feel guilty about it because it doesn't map over to how I currently understand 'work' and it's not really fun, either. The texts seem almost universally over-complicated. They're florid. Like, turgid. I'm getting the impression that a lot - most? - of these storied academics get stuck in some kind of weird feedback loop where their prose gets more and more complicated, more and more clause-ridden until it vanishes up its own ass like some kind of shitty reverse-oroboros. Maybe that's in vogue, or maybe that's the only kind of writing that seems sufficiently gate-kept and academic.
Which is what I'm working against, keep in mind. I've already seen so many, 'this is the way it is' arbitrary and damaging constructions that I feel frequently feel nauseous. Maybe Sartre's got something to say about that.
