At the end of last year, I was thinking about my goals for this one. I wrote down all the books I've read this year, for one, which has done a pretty good job of keeping me focused and has been fairly motivating. I'm a little dissapointed, in one sense, that it's been successful, because it seems so shallow - as if I'm not reading for its own sake, but to raise a meaningless number count higher. But, you know, on the other hand, it shows me what I've done and gives me perspective. I've succeeded in reading 36 books - some of them very difficult, some quite long, and some of them were rather easy. Some were dull, some were exciting, and one was a cover-to-cover read of a gaming book.
I found the experiment so successful that I'm going to persist in 2016, with expansions. I realized that I've read a very considerable number of essays, and I'm curious to know what movies I've watched over the course of the year. (I logged complete video game playthroughs, but I played a surprisingly small number of different games through the year. Something I mean to remedy.) In addition, I think it'd be helpful for me to write down my thoughts or notes somewhere as I complete them, or as I'm working on them, which could be really helpful if I intend to write on them in the future (or use them for other writings). I think I had intended to do that this year, and I just never did. So, there's one resolution I think I can keep and - in the event you want to know what I think - I'll see about making them accessible.
Again, I think that I'm going to work on my website. I've kept it updated as far as it's been worth updating, which generally means that nothing much has been posted. I haven't produced too much content this semester and the only new stuff was what I was waiting on getting feedback on after the semester ended - that is, my two essays. I don't think anyone accesses my site but me, which is generally fine, since my work is not currently particularly pertinent to anyone I know of at the moment.
I'm also pretty resolved to perfom more strongly as a college instructor in 2016 (not that I've recieved particularly stinging criticism this semester, but still) and get this thesis complete. I'm hoping to do a lot of good writing in the upcoming semesters.
