I was trying to explain the issue of exponentially increasing xp costs paired with static chargen to a friend recently, but (bless his heart) he couldn't understand why you wouldn't make the character you're actually playing instead of the one you want to be playing in 3-4 sessions just to save some xp. I think it's one of those things that seems like a huge deal when you're discussing RAW with strangers on the internet, but is dealt with by social contract once you actually hit the table to game with friends.
If you were to continue in this non-specified game, do you think you'd keep with buying up straight dots, or stretch your XP a little by investing in more specialties?
