I'm just kind of hanging out on my laptop, which I pretty much set to one side until about 4:30 today since I felt I had better things to do for once. After hanging out in the U district, we came back to Bellevue and I imagine we'll be going out again for dinner which is nice because 1) I like dinner and 2) it's good to get out sometimes. Anyhow, I considered running an Exalted game today, but I didn't really have it in me to do all the NPC statting and plotwork that I usually do, which I took to be kind of a bad sign. Given that was the case, I basically decided to just put it off until next week, because every other week isn't a bad schedule for running. I'd also like the first big game to be kind of a, well, big game because I want to cover a lot of ground.
In order to do this, I kind of needed to stat up some NPCs. I like statting up characters, actually. I really do. But frankly, Exalted characters seem to be more exhausting then others because of the sheer number of Charms usually required. Like, you stat up their skills and ability points, and then you're left with this roster of abilities and, because they're NPCs, you fill in the required ones. And then you look at the full roster of other abilities available and wonder if this is a concept that requires Linguistics charms or Sail charms, or something. In general, it doesn't matter all that much. Is this character ever going to be sailing, and if so, would they ever have learned supernatural sailing techniques? I guess not! Well, it depends, I guess. Whatever.
Reasonably speaking, you only have to fill in what you'll use. That's in character enough. But that's backfired on me in the past. Plus, it always burns me a little bit when I've done that and think it's really reasonable, only to discover that the character uses four times as much exp points then a PC character, and they're supposed to be on the same level. Which never seems to matter all that much, because they still usually get their asses killed doing something anyhow, because I roll really terribly, really consistantly. So strange.
