I hit an emotional wall - a short, sputtering burnout until pretty late in the day. Honestly, my daily schedule is pretty shitty, and it encourages bad writing behavior, but it can't really be changed based on my current circumstances, so I just try to keep a good attitude. Or, uh, as good an attitude as I can, anyhow.
I'm really far along with the final draft. First submissions due date is December 9th, so that's not a problem. I've been trying, though, to get through to my thesis chair for over a week, submitting some work for review, asking some questions, and getting no response at all. Not even a, "Got your email, man, but I'm busy so it'll take a minute to respond." kind of thing. She's busy, and I respect that, but it's been pulling teeth to get any kind of response, much less critique, at all. That's really disheartening and it's also made work really difficult for me.
My page count's already there, you know? If it were just, "write semi-coherantly about the subject of your inquiry for 70 pages," it'd be no problem. Page count's probably going to hit the 90-100 range. I think I've kept the excess pagecount down. I'd like to pare it down in places and elaborate in others. I'm hoping - against hope, at this point - that responses from the other readers will help with that.
35, 36 pages on chapter two - it's run a little long. Chapter one may not be academic enough - that's tough, since I'm writing about really current events, sometimes even as they happen. The election results have even been integrated to a small degree. They're relevent to my writing, and in some ways, they really drive home elements of my thesis. So, like, thanks Donny. You're out of your element, but you've certainly helped me make my point.
Finishing up really can't come a bit too soon. I'm counting my finishing of the draft in days, now, but I am really, really broke. As in, I very well might have to borrow money to submit the thesis broke. Issues of access are very real to me, considering how dire things occasionally get, over here. I'm looking for work, so I'll keep my fingers crossed if you do.
