It's true. My bus route was a few miles off the mark on Monday, causing me to run terribly late for my appointment. I simply rescheduled, and Brent is going to take me to the terminal in Bellevue so I don't have the inter-city bus hassle. That'll cut my actual travel time down by about 45 minutes, and I'll actually be spending most of my time waiting either before or after the meeting. That's fine. I'll take the time to do some writing and reflection.
I've spent plenty of time out of the apartment lately, but it's been stressful. I ended up sore and sunburnt. That shouldn't happen tomorrow. ^_^;
So, yeah, the bus stop I got off of was close, which is awkward. As in, well, it's only five mile, you know? If you're driving, that's no distance at all.
I've got some more complex matters on my mind in general, but I wonder if this is really the place. Generally speaking, I don't know if it's me or the anxiety, so I'm just kind of sitting on them right now and seeing if they go away when I relax.

Back when I worked at NetSol in Belleville, I only ever took the Metro to work once. I had to get up at *blink* 5 am to be to work at 9, encompassing the express bus from my house to the Hanley Metrolink station, the Metrolink station to the Belleville stop, and then the bus north on (159?). It was a pain in the ass, it was 28 degrees outside, and ultimately it was the day I got fired an hour after I got there. Total. Suck.
Then I had to do all that shit in reverse, whilst ruminating on my status as newly unemployed and carrying the contents of my cubicle. Suck. Suck. Suck.
There was a point to this comment, honest, but I can't remember after all that suck. So just hang in there, I guess. I'm rooting for you.

One of the things I'm thinking is that public transportation is a must. There aren't many people in the midwest that can't afford a car per family, but there are a lot of people that can't afford a car for everyone, which causes a lot of transport issues for people.
The group of people most hard hit are minorities and other economically disenfranchised groups. My friend Matt has been an advocate for better light rail systems in the area, and having seen his (drawn in crayon) plan, I really think it's got merit.
But even cities are designed with cars in mind. That needs to change.
