First shift at Weekends' Only, today. My feet are fucking tired. It's like that moment when you go back into retail work again, or whatever job that requires you to literally be on your feet for the entire day - usually on concrete. WO is 100% concrete, from the sales floor to the back of the warehouse. The only place that isn't is the break room, where you get 30 minutes in an 8 hour shift.
I'm not saying it was bad. I'm just saying it was tiring. I mean, it was kinda bad, because I had to get up at 6 AM, I was in by 7, and I literally unloaded heavy furniture and mattresses for 8 hours. (30 minutes overtime) But it's that kind of 'of course it's shitty, you work in a warehouse' kind of bad. You already knew this going in. None of the passive-aggressive call-center bad I've had to deal with in the past. That, and I'm not required to drive an hour through what are arguably the most dangerous and busy roads in the metro area.
Plus, after working that hard, I'd say that I've earned my eventual 5th of gin. (I think I'd prefer Beefeaters, but we're going to get Bombay Sapphire because Kay wants the bottle and it is, in fact, an awfully pretty bottle. And a solid, middle-priced gin, to boot.)
I literally have zero idea what my work schedule is going to be like, by the way.
I'm rewarding myself today with a delicious hotdog and a little Christmas-gift whiskey.
