Before I can teach in the Fall Semester, I have to attend a grad. level class on pedagogy techniques running for a week from Aug. 10th to the 14th, with meetups further on in the semester, so I'm reading up on my expectations now while simultaniously working hard to finish up pre-fall goals. A lot of that has been cleaning, I'm not going to lie. It's paid off in that the house is as clean as it's ever been short of when it was purchased and literally, as a whole, cleaner than it's ever been for as long as I've been here. We've got probably one big push in terms of giving up or getting rid of stuff that's been sitting around the house for years - everything from individual pieces of media to old paperwork, trash, and misc. clutter before we re-organize the remainer and have to spend money on stuff like new flooring, ceiling fans, and furniture that isn't or won't rapidly fall apart.

So, we're really close to that. That's heartening.

Kay's been in school over the summer, hoping to hasten credit acquisition to make getting a Bachelor's quicker and more painless. That, combined with some family stuff that came up just as we were finishing up the penultimate WoD session, caused us to postpone the last game for a few weeks even when we've technically had a few full days open up where neither of us had any direct social obligations. My one on one play experience success (when I did, actually, bother to run the game) has lead me to consider a different kind of asynchronous gaming model based on small group online play. Depending on how much work I do, talking about it here will probably be a natural extension of my thought process, but my thoughts are mostly on finishing up this WoD Core game.

I discussed the game world we'd kind of come up with - one with a merger of WoD and Silent Hill cosmologies (with WoD Core being kind of the senior partner, since Silent Hill falls with in very neatly, conceptually). I've vacillated on what I wanted to do next. Keep the character and proceed with a Core game, Awaken Kay's character for use in a larger Mage setting, keep the world and the characters as background characters, ditch the whole thing and move on... I've decided to retain the world, retain the character information because it's good stuff. I love the game we've played, and I could see coming back and playing this setting again, but I'm moving on to a new world, a new kind of theme, away from direct horror and into near-scify (kind of post-cyberpunk really) concepts with Awakening where the Seers are the major antagonists. So now it's one game and one writeup away from completion. As for Mage, I don't have a time frame. I've run that campaign before and I have, in the past, wanted to run a campaign for every major gameline I own to justify the expense almost, but Awakening's so fucking present for me that if I do write something this year, it's gonna have to be that.

I hope to write something again here soon, because I've got some theory stuff going on that I like, but I'm busy and I've gotten this off my chest but it's time to get back to work. Hope your summers are treating you okay.
