The initial emails for Exalted games went out. Both are post-December schedules, which I actually think is about right in terms of time. I don't really super enjoy the period where you have to get to know everyone's character's ins and outs in a vacuum, and I think it'd be nice to have some pre-established inter-character dynamics and character roles established in-game before we sit down to the table, and it's nice to do it in an organic way. This way, people have a chance to fine tune starting character setups, write stories, or just have everything like... out of the way long before we sit down. And when we do get that show on the road, hopefully it'll be exciting out the gate.

I spent my morning cleaning up works cited pages, and I'll probably have to chase down citations now rather than trying to do it later, so I'll clear that up today. I also ended up relying heavily on two scholars writing together on Donna Haraway's work - especially beyond her essay "The Cyborg's Manifesto," but I also felt that the manifesto essay itself was valueable to know about in terms of feminist sci-fi writers. I can afford to be quick with it - I've already read it - but I still feel like I should double check it for notes to make sure I don't make an ill informed comment on it.

I... don't think anyone would notice. But, I'll say that double checking and making sure things are properly noted has proved to be especially valueable to me in the past; I have already run into several instances of saying, "I'm really glad I have this master reference sheet," already.

On a different, weirder note, I've got the last session of this WoD game hanging around kind of...  indefinitely. I have no idea when it's going to get run - it's completely written and statted. It could be as early as tomorrow, it could be several months from now; it's not really waiting on me as much as it's waiting on Kay. We've both been under a lot of stress, and the games I'd been running kind of hit in the same emotional range as stuff like Jessica Jones has been, which is to say that they're cathartic but stressful.

I guess it's not surprising, since this upcoming game features the face-off (maybe literally - really literally) with the Cult of the Red Word's cannibal Head Celebrant and the rest of his rapidly deteriorating cult - like, physically and mentally deteriorating. The Cult has to make its move now or move on, and the danger the cult itself poses as it becomes aggressive and erratic is too much to ignore for the small group of assembled investigators, so things have come to a head. It's a dangerous and ugly scene, and I guess it's kind of too stressful at the moment.

Having this game sitting here reminded me that it's literally been years since I've run a campaign, and I'm excited to get back into it. I don't really count the WoD sessions in that - it's been a very tightly knit game, obviously. The one on one dynamic for tabletop gaming has been deeply strange - not personal, but a game that only one other person has a direct reference to. I don't know if it's strange, but I honestly feel a lot more confident about running new games after this, though. Wrapping grad school up feels good to me, there's a lot of stuff closing up, and that's really vindicating.

You know me - I am all about auspicious conclusions.
