Saturday was for hanging around and taking notes for my game today. Went to a friends, got so lit that playing Rock Band basically became impossible, and as soon as I put my head on a pillow, I pretty much passed out.

I think. Sort of?

I've got this weird habit when I get drunk enough that my brain basically shuts down. I guess this is kind of like being so drunk that you don't remember what you did in the morning, but you can combine it with the fact that I'm basically intending go sleep. I close my eyes, I feel like I'm resting. I've discovered that my body occasionally just continues to act, albeit badly. I know this from inference, basically, I thought that I've gone to bed or passed out in the past and people tell me I actually stared at a wall and mumbled non-sequeters until someone suggested I sleep. It's rare, but I wake up with just kinda fractional memories. Cue paranoia.

Anyhow, I've had a hangover all friggin' day, which is now gone thanks to the drug fairy. I seriously don't know who this was, but everyone left to pick Val up and go home, and I went to the restroom. When I got back, stuff was sitting on the table and there was a bottle of Bayer. Thanks! Now my awful headache is gone. I just felt like sharing.

Gaming. I ran my one-shot today, and it looks like it's going to be a multi-shot. I felt really under-prepared, and I honestly could of done more work. I got some floor plans and had ideas for what would be in the house the PCs were investigating, but I didn't really write it out in full. As crunch time approached, I really started to feel that I needed written notes for everything, so I frantically began typing things out. About two pages in, I was just like, "Man, just run the friggin' game already. You are just boring your peeps by making them wait." so I ad-libbed an awful lot. Two things really, really helped. I wrote down an extensive amount of information about supporting and primary NPCs so I actually had information when the PCs investigated the situation like a pair of smart mages ought to and I had already worked out a lot of the magical causality that would go down.

Now, I think it went pretty well. Once we started playing, I felt a lot more comfortable, and really enjoyed the session. Brent and Jolene said they had a pretty good time and that there were some genuinely kind of creepy moments, so that was really neat for me. Since they expressed interest in being available for the next session, I think that it was a pretty good game for me. I was nervous and rusty, and things still went alright. It really helps that they were trying to play along, because the game would have totally floundered otherwise.

I really enjoyed the hanging ghost, the unplugged television, and playing with the PCs phone calls. I'll want to get a little feedback before the next game so I can polish off some rough spots and see what people enjoyed the most, so that I can keep the game going in a fun direction.

Monday is for getting a job. Work or bust.
