Kind of a short update. I already posted that there are two upcoming interviews that I have high hopes for. One is in downtown Seattle, and if it offers a substantial pay, I may take that over a TekSystems offer, which also sounds really nice. It's been implied by others that I'm more than qualified to train at the computer support position, and when I interview, I'll probably get the position. OTOH, I know better than to assume, so of course I'm interviewing for the office position. Both jobs would have their perks, so I'm keeping an open mind and I'll give it my best shot.

Tempering the optimism, I've decided that if those positions both fall through somehow, I've really been here in Seattle as long as circumstances should take me. I've heard that there are ways I could continue to try to work things out if that happened, but realistically, it's not something that should happen. Turnaround time from resume submission to hire to paycheck can easily be over a month, and that's imposing myself for much longer then I wanted. It was kind of uncharacteristic for me to accept staying with someone like this in the first place, and I think it's clear that I'm starting to impose, so it'll be time to go one way or the other.

I'm honestly not unhappy with that proposition. First, I'm optimistic about my chances with one of these positions at the very least. Second, if I fail and go back to Fairview, at least I gave it a shot, and I'll just make a new plan. Either way, I'll find a way to pay everyone back for their support, and find something good and productive to do.

Anyhow, I got set up with a temporary position as a night security guard for the place Val works, which I understand is kind of an upscale old folk's home. It's midnights, which I wouldn't normally do, but there's a certain amount of obligation built into this proposition. My only hesitation comes from the midnight shift, which I've learned to loath like I fear a deep fryer. Actually, though, I'm cranky about it in the way a kid has to get up early for school, and that's only regarding the Tuesday night - Wednesday morning day, where I have a early afternoon interview and the midnight shift that evening. Luckily, it's probably only going to be an issue that one shift, though. Other then that, the extra income isn't something that's going to push my timetable along any, but the extra money will give me a comfortable buffer between hiring and paycheck that would be difficult to get any other way.

I'm increasingly looking forward to getting a job so I can put down for a car. The very next thing I'll do is probably take everyone out for a nice dinner to thank them. I kinda feel like that doesn't cut it, but, well, I don't have any amazing ideas or anything, and my income until I start getting paychecks is still going to be pretty limited. ^_^;
